2017 Promising Innovations Grant Announced

Kendal Charitable Funds is pleased to announce the 2017 Promising Innovations Grant topic:

With 90 percent of individuals over age 65 saying they want to live at home, successful and replicable aging in place models continue to challenge aging services. At the heart of this challenge is the risk of social isolation many older adults may face.

We seek proposals that support aging in place and combat isolation of older adults through engagement in purposeful and meaningful ways within the greater community, designed to affirm their value and connectedness.

We hope to identify factors that lead to isolation and to address them before and/or after they occur, especially utilizing new, replicable models.

Promising Innovation grants take their place in a field that is expanding rapidly to meet the needs of a burgeoning population of elders where money can nurture a pioneering idea to make a measurable difference. These grants are made possible through Kendal Charitable Funds, established in 1989 to raise and disburse monies in support of the charitable purposes of The Kendal Corporation and its affiliates, including many outreach efforts. As a system of not-for-profit communities, programs and services founded on the principles of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), Kendal aspires to transform the experience of aging, guided by Kendal’s Values and Practices. Kendal affiliates work together within the Kendal System and with caring people outside of it to transform our culture’s view of aging and of older persons, stressing the potential for fulfillment and continuing contribution during the later stages of life.

Grants will not normally exceed $50,000 and will normally be for a two-year period. The award recipient will be notified in November 2017. Funding will begin in January 2018. If you would like to consider submitting an online Letter of Intent, please be sure to carefully review our 2017 Grant Seeker Guidelines.

Letters of intent will be accepted until May 19, 2017. Click here for access to the grant application portal.
